Description
A Yorkshire Day special release for the final beer in Haze Outdoors’ Patrons Project.
This is our take on a Yorkshire Stingo, a now rarely seen local style of beer, essentially only made by a certain Smith family of Tadcaster.
Sot caramel and bonfire toffee flavours come from a blend of Crystal malts, with a drier biscuit undercurrent from some amber malt. Historically an oak-conditioned strong ale, we opted to use brewers sugar to boost the ABV and hopped with traditional UK variety, East Kent Goldings. After fermentation we conditioned the beer on ex-whisky wood chips for notes of vanilla, dried fruit and oak.
To celebrate such an occasion worked with local, 8th-generation maltsters Thomas Fawcett & Sons to make this beer with 100% Yorkshire barley, including the Halcyon variety which is now is only grown on Fawcett & Sons’ West Yorkshire farmland.
